The holiday season comes only once a year and provides many of us memories of joy that lasts a lifetime. The African American Art & Culture Complex (AAACC) has been creating beautiful memories with families in the Fillmore/Western Addition during our Annual Holiday Fair. Envisioned and created by past executive director, London Breed – now mayor of San Francisco – to celebrate and honor our children, youth, and families. This year’s theme, Wakanda Winter Wonderland, introduces a mesmerizing beautiful light and installation experience that highlights an Afrocentric touch to winter magic as families create art together, receive toys, and enjoy music and performances.
Our vision is to be the Center of Black Joy. Our mission is to present, offer and celebrate Black art, artists and culture through educational, innovative, enriching and empowering programs and services that inspire and uplift the community. We partner with community organizations, volunteers, and generous sponsors to fulfill on our commitments and provide over 150 children with toys, carnival rides, nourishing food, and, most importantly, a picture with Black Santa – Kente Klaus! This year, as we celebrate 20 years of Black joy and the holiday spirit, we invite you to join us by donating Black dolls, Black books, and/or educational toys. We also welcome fruits and healthy snacks and drinks for the day.
