He is a leader and legend in Fillmore and SF who has served on the AAACC Board of Directors for almost a decade. His story includes fighting for racial equity in SF for 45+ years! In honor of his 80th birthday, Rev. desires to push AAACC to build a culture of giving that allows us to sustain and grow our work.

Restorative Wednesdays is a month long self care & transformational health journey ✨YOU DESERVE REST & TO FEEL YOUR BEST!!!
During RESTORATIVE WEDNESDAYS you will get in touch with a deep relaxation to rejuvenate the body and the mind through non-sleep deep rest (NSDR) and yoga nidra.
Yoga Nidra is a ‘yogic sleep’ practice guided in savanna pose in order to bring the body and mind to the edge of sleep while remaining fully awake, and into a profound restorative state. Using verbal guidance to navigate the attention, you’ll experience various layers of your inner terrain while in a fully conscious dream-like state, creating the fertile conditions to plant your “Sankalpa,” the seeds for personal transformation.
The term non-sleep deep rest, coined by Stanford neuroscientist Andrew Huberman, refers to a waking state of deep relaxation that maintains awareness. Evidence suggests reaching this state through NSDR protocols such as yoga nidra can reset dopamine levels and provide other physical and mental health benefits — including better sleep and enhanced neuroplasticity.
As we travel on this inner journey together, the intention is for us to emerge more connected to ourselves so that we are able to leave feeling refreshed and deeply rested.

✨🕉 Join Afi Ayanna, Certified Holistic Wellness Coach and RYT 500 Yoga instructor while being supported and empowered to learn trauma-informed healing, nutrition and daily practices to facilitate mental , physical and spiritual well-being.

Valerie Troutt Projects presents the first ever “Because of Black Music IAM” Festival, Because of Black Music IAM (BOBM) @becauseofblackmusiciam, is a two-day music festival in celebration of Black Music Month being held on June 10th and 11th, 2023. BOBM is a soulful conversation piece developed to bring together local artists, industry professionals, and the community to make connections and create awareness about the impact of Black music and the need to establish new music industry infrastructures ensuring the longevity of not only Black music but Black Artists.

The festival will include a Soulfood brunch, a mixer, an artist panel, and two live music concerts. This festival has been made possible by grants and donations from The Akonadi Foundation, The Eastbay Community Fund, The African American Art and Culture Complex SF, and The Queer Cultural Center of San Francisco, ca.

The African American Art & Culture Complex (AAACC) is hosting San Francisco’s Women’s Policy Summit on Thursday, April 13th at City View at the Metreon to shift narratives, policies and culture to create a gender equitable future. This includes uplifting local entrepreneurs that contribute to and/or exemplify the financial empowerment and independence of women, girls and nonbinary community members.

Instructions:
AAACC invites small craft business owners and trades people to showcase and sell non-food products during the Women’s Policy Summit. Complete and e-mail the following application form below to SummitVendors@aaacc.org by Friday, March 24. Applicants will receive instructions on how to submit a $5 processing cost before their application is reviewed.

Applicants will be selected and notified on a rolling-basis. Selected vendors will be notified by a representative from AAACC and provided with additional details regarding the Summit—e.g., insurance requirements for the venue, logistics regarding dates and times for set-up, and the hours for presentation.
