BLACK DREAMS ARCHIVE by STAND IN PEACE INTERNATIONAL
Meet Stand In Peace International
Join Stand In Peace International for the Black Dreams Archive, a new initiative and installation from the African American Art & Culture Complex fueling its development as a home, a hub, and a holder of / for Black art, culture, histories, and neighbors (near and far). Located in the Sargent Johnson Gallery, Stand In Peace International will be holding space and time to dream about what art, peace, healing, and entrepreneurship means / looks like to us. As Black artists, creatives, and entrepreneurs, dreaming is our birthright, and our voice and creativity is invaluable. Come dream with us and share your dreams with others, so we can collectively make them reality.
Thier story…
Stand In Peace International has been in existence for over 20 years, and in June 2018 became an official nonprofit. Founded in San Francisco, California by Shervon Hunter, who saw a need for healing in her community of Potrero Hill and answered by creating programs and services centered around holistic and community centered healing practices.
Stand In Peace International helps people, places and spaces where historical, generational, community and individual trauma have taken place, by helping transform pain into power through the arts, health promotion, cultural connectedness, and building community. We specialize in working with disenfranchised communities, such as low-income, communities of color, and at-risk populations.
Our programs and services include Peace walks, Healing circles, Resilience days, Retreats, and trainings. Stop by to find out how you can get involved!
